‘COVID-19 Working from Home or Returning to Work – planning, response and recovery’

May 15, 2020

Working from home is workable on paper but hard to implement!

These where my opening remarks in a blog I posted back in March – how wrong was I then..?

Yes, life has changed as we guide each other towards week 9 of the COVID-19 lockdown, and what remarkable changes to our every day lives we have had to endure.

As the Government has now indicated, where we can return to work we can, and where we can continue to work from home, we should carry-on as we have over the past 8 weeks.

This announcement now comes with a series of challenges for employers, non-more so than how we now integrate our people back into a safe and secure working environment – afterall, safety is at the heart of business thinking. Unless our people feel safe, employees won’t return, customers will stay away and the economic restart will falter, harming livelihoods and public services.

The Government has now published new ‘COVID-19 secure’ guidelines for UK employers, to help them get their businesses back up and running with workplaces operating as safely as possible.

These guidelines set out practical steps for businesses focussed on 5 key points, which should be implemented as soon as possible.

At the Risk Dashboard we have taken these 5 key points and turbo-charged our thinking, and as a result we have developed for FREE to  SME’s, what we believe to be the most comprehensive audit technology to help employers get them through this difficult and complex time.

The Government’s guidance is an important first step, it won’t provide every answer, no guidance can, at the Risk Dashboard we have taken the 25 years of experience from our parent company Business Safety Systems, and created a module with 20 questions for employers to consider when it comes to the health and safety of our people, with guidance and links from not only GOV.UK, but from additional resource area’s such as;

    • ACAS
    • HSE
    • TUC
    • CIPD

All of whom have created fantastic content, which we have embedded into the resources section of this FREE to use edition of the Risk Dashboard.

We have provided YOU as the business owner, with as much resource material as you will need in one simple to use platform, to enable you to create the safest working environment as possible.

Ultimately, the decision lies with YOU – the company’s directors, and you need to feel comfortable that they you operate safely. Decisions on reopening will not be taken lightly, and making adjustments to protect your staff and customers will be a big challenge for many workplaces.

At the Risk Dashboard we hope and expect guidance to evolve over time, and our module for safely planning the return to work of our people, will also evolve and we see our platform as the solution for employers to start on the long path to getting the economy going again – safely!
